Kindred Credit Union required updated pylon signage that improved roadside visibility while reflecting the professionalism and reliability associated with their financial institution. The project focused on creating signage capable of attracting attention within a busy commercial environment while maintaining a clean and trustworthy appearance.
McBain Signs began the process by evaluating visibility conditions, traffic flow, and architectural surroundings to ensure the final structure would perform effectively from multiple viewing distances and angles. The design direction emphasized simplicity, readability, and strong brand consistency, ensuring the signage communicated confidence without unnecessary visual complexity.
After doing our preliminary drawings, we received a little kickback from the City of Waterloo with the height of the sign, the location the sign was in was only allowed to have signs protruding no higher than 6'6" in height which posed a problem for Kindred Credit Union seeing as the neighbours signs were all 12+ feet defeating the purpose of installing a new sign to allow their clients to easily find their location.
After a few meetings with the City of Waterloo and doing some research to plead our case of having their sign larger we all came to an agreement to allow the sign variance for the signage to be at 13'0" in height from the ground. This was a huge win for us and Kindred Credit Union, as it meant we could move forward with the project without compromising on the visibility of the sign. We were thrilled to have been able to find a solution that worked for everyone involved. With the variance in place, we were able to finalize the design and proceed with the installation of the new sign. The end result was a modern, eye-catching sign that effectively communicated Kindred Credit Union's presence in the area, and we were proud to have played a part in helping them achieve their goals
